Results of the Precedent Studies

            To analyze how each of the precedent studies can impact individual and community resilience, each study will be looked at to see how many of the 5 factors, discussed in Literature Review, each unit has in the ability to affect resilience in communities and individuals. Each factor is listed below;
            Precedent Study 1, Global Portable Buildings Inc., allows for individuals and families to adapt to the new environment by providing a place for them to live in. The price of the units makes it hard for people to challenge and maintain health. It’s also difficult to maintain a stable mental health when living in a group of people if the person is not used to it. The single units do not allow for group communication and remaining optimistic is hard when a person starts living a completely different life.
            Precedent Study 2, Mobile Relief Solutions Inc., provides temporary homes and works with emergency and disaster relief services to cover the costs. Without the extra worrying about extra costs, people are able to handle other situations. The single units do not allow for group communication but because the units are connected, creating a community environment, individuals are encouraged to work together, building optimism.
            Precedent Study 3, Energistx, similar to the other 2, allow for adaptation and ability to handle the situations better. Some units are packed with multiple people which can be hard to people to get used to if they’re used to living alone or only with a couple other people. Also, because of this, communication might be overwhelming and forced rather than at one’s own will. Remaining optimistic is hard when a person knows that they have at least a 2 year tie to a horrible and devastating memory.
            The ideal shelter for rebuilding resilience should possess all five qualities. Based on the above information, Precedent Study 2 is the most ideal of the three.
